The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving children.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Huntsville OPP, in partnership with the OPP Muskoka Crime Unit, initiated an investigation into two sexual assaults that occurred at a local resort. Information received indicated that the suspect identified himself as a police officer and assaulted two children.
Further investigative steps determined that the offender had travelled to the area from another municipality. The investigation was supported by members of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP Detachment, the OPP Criminal Behaviour Analysis Section, the OPP Forensic Interview Team, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and OPP East Region Major Crime members.
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, as a result of the investigation a 64 year old of North Dundas Township, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
· Sexual assault on a person under 16 years – three counts
· Sexual interference – three counts
· Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years old – two counts
· Indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age – two counts
· Personation of a peace officer
· Fail to comply with prohibition order regarding children
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
