Saugeen Conservation has issued a water safety statement.
Heavy rain came through the watershed on Monday night. Some areas received upwards of 50-60 millimeters of rain. The conditions on the ground remain saturated following the spring weather leading to the snow melting.
With the snow melting, They say that is resulting in large amounts of runoff into local watercourses. Environment Canada has also forecasted more rain this evening with 15-25 millimeters in the forecast , with some thunderstorm potential as well.
Water levels particularly in local rivers and streams have been rising and could potentially rise more. Flooding is not anticipated but there has been small pooling of water, and small watercourses could leak into low-laying areas. With all this wet weather, there is even more rain scheduled for later in the week. Thursday, April 2nd, and Saturday, April 4th,are supposed to have rain and keep the water levels high into next week.
The public is encouraged to be cautious around local waterways.
