The OPP is warning everyone about dangerous ice conditions after an incident Friday night involving snowmobiles breaking through the ice on Georgian Bay.
Shortly before 10pm on March 27th, Southern Georgian Bay OPP were called to Robin’s Point Road in Tay Township, after a sled went through the ice several hundred metres offshore.
Two snowmobiles were travelling together when one machine went through thin ice, sending two riders into the water.
Both were wearing survival flotation suits.
Members of the Tay Township Fire Department responded and were able to rescue the pair. They were then taken to local hospital as a precaution for cold exposure.
