Northern Bruce Peninsula is holding a virtual open house to gather feedback about the future of Cabot Head Road.
The road has been closed to vehicles since 2019, when storms caused washouts and damage along several sections.
A staff report says since then, council has been reviewing reports that examine environmental, operational, financial and legal details to consider when deciding how to fix the road, rebuild it or keep it closed.
The upcoming meeting follows a public engagement survey and the municipality says it is intended to provide an opportunity to share additional information and respond to questions raised through the engagement process.
Last year, council directed staff to prepare a draft operational model which would allow gated vehicle access for authorized users like the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory, the Friends of Cabot Head Lighthouse, contractors, municipal operations staff, and emergency services. They are also considering a non-motorized multi-use trail for the public.
The online meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Residents and interested community members are invited to attend this virtual session to hear updates and share questions or feedback.
