The Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library is introducing a new monthly “Gardener in Residence” program in partnership with the Grey County Master Gardeners.
The program will give residents the opportunity to learn directly from experienced gardeners through hands-on demonstrations and one-on-one advice sessions.
Upcoming sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 and Monday, April 20 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the library’s auditorium.
Each session will begin with a registered gardening demonstration at 2:00 p.m., followed by a drop-in advice clinic from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
March’s session will focus on seed starting, with participants learning about timing, indoor and outdoor sowing techniques, and best practices. Attendees are encouraged to bring seeds and seed-starting trays, with some materials also available on-site.
April’s session will feature an interactive demonstration on transplanting, repotting, and dividing plants. Participants will learn how to care for seedlings and established plants, as well as techniques for dividing perennials.
Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who have extensive horticultural knowledge and provide expert advice to the public through ongoing education and outreach.
Those interested in attending are required to register for the demonstration portion of the program. For more information or to register, residents can contact the library directly.
