The Attack had to settle for a single point.
Keaton Ardagh broke up the right-wing in overtime and beat Matthew Koprowski high glove side with 1:01 left, lifting the Brampton Steelheads to a 2-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack in an Ontario Hockey League school day game at CAA Centre Tuesday.
Manuel Amado had the other goal for Brampton (17-36-6-3). It came early in the second period to stake the Steelheads to a 1-0 lead.
The Steelheads won their second straight game, after ending a 13-game losing streak this past Saturday.
Tristan Delisle had the goal for the Attack (24-30-4-5). He scored on a breakaway 4:23 into the second period to tie the game 1-1.
Owen Sound moved within two points of Guelph Storm for sixth in the Western Conference, and two up on the eight-place Saginaw Spirit.
Zach Bowen had a miraculous save in the third period. He was out behind the Steelheads’ net, and a pass went up the middle right on the stick of Attack forward Harry Nansi. The Toronto Maple Leafs’ prospect stared at a wide open net, took a moment, and then shot. But Bowen dove back, fully sprawled, and got his glove to the puck to make the save and keep it 1-1.
Mbuyi also rang a shot off the crossbar in the third period.
Bowen made 22 saves in the win, while Koprowski stopped 21 taking the loss. Shots were 23-23. The Steelheads were 0 for 6 on the power play; Owen Sound finished 0 for 3.
Next up for the Attack is a trip to Kitchener Friday to take on the Western Conference leading Rangers.
