TC Energy has formally launched the federal impact assessment process for its proposed Ontario Pumped Storage Project.
The review will be conducted by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada and marks a key milestone for the project.
With the submission of the Initial Project Description, the project has now entered the Planning Phase — the first of five phases under the federal impact assessment framework.
The agency has also opened an initial 30-day public comment period running from March 6 to April 6. During that time, the public can review the Initial Project Description and provide feedback directly to the agency.
The document outlines the project’s purpose, major components, potential environmental effects, timelines, and possible alternatives.
Officials say this is the first of several opportunities for public participation expected during the multi-year review process.
