The new Amazon Delivery Service Partner Hub has officially launched in Owen Sound’s industrial park.
Amazon says in a release, it’s proud to announce the launch of the new facility to help more customers living outside of major urban areas benefit from its last-mile delivery network.
The company says the Owen Sound facility represents a newer business model for Amazon in Canada.
They explain, facilities like this are operated in partnership with delivery service partners, independent business owners who contract with Amazon to build and operate their own local package delivery service. Customer orders are sorted at nearby Amazon delivery stations and shipped by Amazon to the new sites, where they are received by delivery service partners and loaded on to delivery vehicles for the final journey to customers’ doorsteps.
The new facility in Owen Sound measures more than 7,500 square feet. It follows similar launches in Lethbridge, Sarnia, and Cornwall.
Jasmin Begagic, Director, AMZL Canada, says in a statement, “Amazon is committed to offering the fastest delivery speeds for our customers, and we are constantly innovating and investing in our local network, including in smaller cities and communities,” adding, “We’re proud to work directly with our local Delivery Service Partners to introduce two new facilities that help us serve more customers more efficiently.”
Amazon says more than 4,500 cities and towns are eligible for Prime free One-Day Delivery including Owen Sound.
