The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has launched community engagement initiatives to help shape a new Integrated Destination Marketing, Branding and Economic Positioning Strategy for Sauble Beach.
The strategy comes following recent changes to the ownership and official name of the 2.4-kilometre stretch of shoreline along Lake Huron, now officially recognized as Saugeen Beach.
Mayor Jay Kirkland says the beach holds deep meaning for many people and it’s important to listen and work collaboratively as the community moves forward.
“As we move forward with this strategy, it’s important that we listen carefully and work collaboratively, particularly in light of the beach’s official recognition as Saugeen Beach,” Kirkland said. “This process is about ensuring our economic future reflects our shared history, evolving identity, and the opportunities ahead.”
Residents, business owners, investors and past visitors are invited to complete an online survey, which takes about 8 to 10 minutes. Five participants will be randomly selected to win a $50 gift card to a Sauble Beach business.
A virtual community visioning session is scheduled for March 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and an in-person pop-up engagement event will take place April 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fretz’s Your Independent Grocer on Main Street.
The Town is also seeking paid Community Animators to assist with on-the-ground engagement.
Officials say the strategy will help define Sauble Beach’s economic position and support sustainable tourism and year-round economic vitality.
More information and project updates are available through the Town’s OpenMic platform and social media channels.
