If you’re in the Meaford area Saturday, you may hear live gunfire coming from the military base.
The Commanding Officer of the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre says soldiers from 7th Toronto Regiment will be conducting live fire exercises on Saturday, February 28th.
Noise from ranges at the training centre may be heard between 7:30 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.
You may notice a succession of loud noises from weapons and large-calibre guns firing simultaneously. The military says the exercise is purely for training purposes and at no time will public safety be at risk.
The 4th Canadian Division Training Centre says in a statement, “4 CDTC recognizes the importance of community cooperation. Without the support of local communities, military members would not be able to accomplish their mission. Local communities provide key supports and services to military members that are necessary and appreciated. Activities on base occasionally impact the local area. While this may be unavoidable at times, 4 CDTC appreciates the understanding of local residents and does not underestimate this very important reciprocal relationship.”
