Some wintry weather is in store for Grey Bruce today.
Freezing rain warnings are in place across the region, with Environment Canada saying several hours of freezing rain are likely today resulting in significant ice build-up.
“The most hazardous conditions are expected over areas of higher elevation. Areas closer to Lake Huron may be less affected with temperatures likely rising above the freezing mark,” Environment Canada says in its warning. “Precipitation will diminish in intensity by this evening, although freezing drizzle may affect the area through the night.”
Some areas in Bruce and Grey counties will also get some snow or ice pellets. Five to 10 centimetres of mixed stuff is expected in Owen Sound. For the Bruce Peninsula, there’s a snowfall warning as well, up to 15 centimetres could fall.
All Bluewater District School Board, Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, and French Catholic Board (Saint-Dominique-Savio) schools are closed today.
