An arrest has been made in relation to a theft in Hanover last year, when three suspects broke into a cannabis store and stole more than $10,000 worth of products.
Hanover Police say a 16-year-old male youth was transferred into their custody after being arrested in Peel Region on Jan. 27. He was released and is due to appear in court in Walkerton on charges of break and enter, mischief under $5,000, wearing a disguise with intent and participation in a criminal organization.
The alleged incident happened back on Sept. 20, 2025. Hanover Police officers responded to a break-and-enter in progress at a cannabis retail store on 10th Street in the southern Grey County town. Police say three male suspects wore disguises and forced their way into the business through the front door, and then made off with $10,000 in cannabis products.
“The suspects were in and out of the retail store in under five minutes before fleeing in a Chevrolet Malibu with concealed licence plates covered by duct tape,” Hanover Police say in a release.
Investigators with Hanover Police reviewed video footage from CamSafe over the past several months, which helped lead to the arrest in Peel Region.
“We continue to realize the investigative benefits of quick access to video footage from property owners, businesses and residents that have registered their cameras on CamSafe.ca and thank those registrants who have directly contributed to the success of this investigation,” Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll says in a prepared statement.
Hanover Police say cannabis products were seized during this investigation “believed to be linked to other similar commercial entries in other parts of the province.”
“These investigations remain ongoing, and police anticipate further arrests related to this Hanover commercial break & enter,” a release from the municipal police service explains.
