Bruce Telecom is celebrating a major milestone this year, marking 115 years in business.
Founded in 1911, Bruce Telecom has seen many changes in connecting the residents of Bruce County, from early telephone lines to the introduction of cable television, and today the installation of fibre-optic networks and more; the organization has continuously evolved to meet changing demand.
“Telecommunications has changed dramatically over the past century, but our purpose really hasn’t,” says Stephanie Brunato, General Manager, Bruce Telecom. “We’ve always been about serving our community first. Every major shift in technology has required us to adapt, invest, and learn, but our focus has stayed the same: delivering reliable service, supporting local growth, and showing up for the people who rely on us.”
To mark its anniversary, Bruce Telecom is rolling out a year-long series of community-focused initiatives, including a commitment of $50,000 toward the new Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre in Port Elgin.
As part of the anniversary celebration, Bruce Telecom will also be sharing historic photos, employee stories, community partnerships, and milestones throughout the year across its website, social media, and local media channels.
“We’re proud of where we’ve come from, but we’re just as excited about what’s ahead,” says Brunato. “Technology will keep changing, and we’ll keep evolving with it, while staying grounded in the same community-first values that started this company more than a century ago.”
