The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre is partnering with Georgian College to launch a virtual experience.
The new virtual experience, which was developed in partnership with the college, will give visitors the ability to explore the museum’s galleries and spaces virtually at anytime.
Users will be able to navigate the museum through immersive 3D galleries and historical spaces, discover featured artifacts and exhibits, and engage with interpretive content that showcases the county’s history, culture and heritage.
Users can zoom in on artifacts and access embedded stories through text and visuals.
Additionally, the tool is designed help those who face physical barriers from visiting the museum, ensuring everyone has access.
Georgian College Immersive Technology Manager Rob Theriault says they are proud to partner with the museum and bring the virtual space to life.
“It’s a great example of how technology can open doors making local history and culture easier to explore, learn from and share, no matter where you are.
Museum Director Cathy McGirr adds partnering with Georgian College allows the museum to extend beyond its physical walls.
“It allows residents, educators, students and visitors to connect with our collections and stories in a flexible, engaging way-while inspiring future in-person visits.
The museum says both desktop computers and mobile devices are the optimal way to use the new platform.
The virtual tool is now live and can be accessed online here.
