Guess what? Snow squalls are expected around Bruce and Grey counties today.
Environment Canada has issued snow squall warnings around the region, with five to 15 centimetres of snow expected throughout the day Tuesday. Another 10-20 centimetres could fall tonight. Forecasters are also warning travel conditions could become challenging as blowing snow is also expected.
“Widespread blowing snow is expected to begin early this morning with southwesterly winds becoming westerly and gusting near 50 km/h. Occasional snow squalls will affect the area beginning this afternoon, with poor visibility remaining the predominant hazard,” Environment Canada says in its warning. “Lake effect snow squalls will become more organized this evening. As a result, the greatest snowfall accumulation is expected tonight. Snow squalls weaken and shift north of the area Wednesday morning.”
The heaviest stuff is expected to fall in parts of Bruce County, where as much as 30-50 centimetres could be on the ground by Wednesday morning. Environment Canada is calling for 15-30 centimetres through the snowsquall event today and tonight in the Owen Sound area and northern Grey County.
