The City of Barrie is discounting building permit application fees for ARUs or Additional Rental Units by half.
The idea is to support the creation of more affordable housing options in the city.
The City is also offering full rebates on building permit application fees on units that pass final interior inspection and achieve occupancy… within twelve months of the permit being issued.
Common examples of ARUs include basement apartments or in-law suites, a coach house or secondary dwelling, or an addition to an existing home to make space for a new dwelling unit.
