The Owen Sound Attack stood pat with its contingent of overage players as a key deadline passed in the Ontario Hockey League at noon.
As of 12 p.m. today (Jan. 8), OHL teams are no longer able to trade overage players and can only have a maximum of three on their rosters.
The three 20-year-old — or overage — players on the Attack are defencemen Lenny Greenberg and Noah Roberts, and forward Noah Nelson. All three will finish their OHL careers in Owen Sound.
Greenberg, a right-shot blueliner, is in just his second season in the OHL after joining the Attack during the latter half of the 2024-25 campaign, departing the BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs to play major junior hockey in Ontario.
The Sacred Heart University commit leads all Attack defencemen in scoring this season with 27 points (6-21–27) in 40 games, and has a plus-2 rating.
Nelson joined the Attack ahead of the 2025-26 season. He has provided a steady two-way presence, skating to a plus-8 rating while putting up 14 points (8-6–14) in 34 games. The London native was a fifth round pick of then the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. He spent his entire OHL career in the Bulldogs organization before joining the Attack.
Roberts was also a draft pick of the (Hamilton) Bulldogs in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. He was traded by the Bulldogs last season to the Sudbury Wolves, and was then acquired by the Attack ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
The OHL’s trade deadline for all non-overage players is 12 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 9).
