No serious injuries were reported in a barn fire in West grey Thursday.
The Hanover Fire Department says on Facebook, on December 18th, at about 10:20 a.m., they responded to a reported barn fire on Concession 2 SDR in the Municipality of West Grey.
They say, upon arrival, crews found a working structure fire and initiated fire suppression operations.
The department says “Firefighters worked tirelessly alongside our mutual aid partners to bring the incident under control and prevent further extension to nearby structures. One individual was assessed on scene by Grey County Paramedic Services for minor injuries. No additional injuries to persons or animals were reported.”
They say the structure is considered a total loss and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
They say firefighters responded from the Neustadt, Ayton and Durham stations in West Grey, as well as firefighters from Elmwood and Minto.
They add, “We would also like to recognize Walkerton Fire Department for providing standby coverage at Hanover Fire Station and responding to two additional Hanover emergency calls while our crews were committed at this incident.”
They say they also had the help of West Grey Public Works, Grey County Roads, West Grey Police Service, Owen Sound Emergency Communications Centre, Lahn Excavation, Hydro One, Grey County Paramedic Services, and the Grey County Mutual Aid Coordinator.
They add, “Incidents like this highlight the importance of strong mutual aid partnerships and inter agency cooperation. Hanover Fire would like to thank everyone involved for their dedication and commitment.”
