A bridge in Georigan Bluffs has reopened, after undergoing a full replacement due to structural issues.
The township sent out an advisory saying Emery Bridge on Church Sideroad West is open again, after being closed in 2023 due to “significant structural issues, including deck and abutment failure.”
Emery Bridge was originally constructed in the 1950s.
A $2.2-million bridge replacement was undertaken. Work began this past summer, and wrapped up this week.
“The new single-lane bridge eliminates the previous load restrictions, improves road safety, and restores direct access to properties, reducing the need for large agricultural equipment to detour along Grey Road 1,” a release from the township says.
