The Muller Plumbing Contractors TCDMHA Rebels (5-3-1) hit a rough patch in their season campaign on what has become an unfortunately familiar backdrop: a snowy day. The team appeared to struggle to find its stride, ultimately falling 6-2 to the appropriatly named home team: Saugeen Shores Storm 2 (7-1-0) in Port Elgin.
The loss, which drops the Rebels’ record slightly, highlighted what many observers are noting as a pattern as the Rebels’ potential seems to remain untapped when winter weather hits.
Despite the difficult result, Gordie Paterson stood out for his performance and was named the Player of the Game.
Game Action Breakdown
The Storm 2 took the lead early, with Owen H. finding the back of the net at 2:56 of the first period. Owen H. struck again a few minutes later, giving the home team a two-goal advantage. Wesley Lane managed to cut the lead in half for the Rebels before the end of the frame, making the score 2-1.
The second period saw both teams trade goals. Benson W. scored for the Storm 2 at 4:49, but Maverick Howell responded for the Rebels at 3:42 to keep the deficit manageable heading into the final period. The score was 3-2 after two.
However, the third period belonged entirely to the Storm 2. Parker W. extended the lead at 5:03, and Brett T. followed up at 6:17. Parker W. sealed the deal for the home side with his second of the game at 9:35, solidifying the 6-2 final score.
The Rebels will have time to regroup before their next challenge. They are scheduled to face the Saugeen Valley Steelheads in Hanover on December 23rd.
