A Dundalk resident faces charges after a single vehicle collision.
OPP say on November 26th about 11:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a single-vehicle in Orangeville.
The vehicle had lost control, struck a tree, and became lodged on a stump. The driver and passenger fled the scene on foot, running toward a nearby housing complex.
Officers arrived promptly, secured the scene, and began an investigation. After speaking with witnesses, officers were quickly guided toward an impaired driving investigation.
A 20 year old Dundalk man is charged with operation while impaired, failure or refusal to comply with demand and failing to remain.
He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. His driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and vehicle impounded for 7 days.
Dufferin OPP say, “Plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, rideshare, public transit or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements. In a split second you could ruin your future, injure or kill others, and tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you.”
