Arran-Elderslie is looking for volunteers for its community working groups in Chesley, Paisley and Tara.
The groups focus on economic development and revitalization of the municipality’s villages.
They’re calling on community members, business or storefront property owners, and members of local service groups to apply.
The municipality says the groups share information, develop ideas, raise issues and concerns, and recommend solutions to support economic development and revitalization in each downtown.
The groups were all created over the roughly the past year and meet regularly.
Some of the activities outlined in the terms of reference for the Tara group, for example, are encouraging community involvement in economic development projects, providing a voice and forum for businesses, rural and urban communities, beautification projects like murals, waste receptacles, and benches, and implementing a vacant commercial space marketing package. The group can also consult on the development of business attraction and retention strategies.
The deadline to apply is November 28th.
