A Bentinck Township man is fined $6,500 for illegal deer hunting.
The Ontario Government says this comes after the man pleaded guilty to hunting deer without a licence and failing to comply with an existing court order.
The Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound heard over the summer that on Dec. 22, 2024, conservation officers began an investigation into the man’s hunting activities.
The officer found concealed hunting equipment, including a crossbow and bolts after locating tree stands and cameras overlooking deposited corn nearby the man’s home.
A search warrant was executed on the cameras to examine the photographs.
The investigation found between Dec. 12 and Dec. 22, 2024, the man hunted deer without a licence and violated the conditions of a court order by engaging in hunting.
In addition to the fine, the man is suspended from hunting for two years.
