A controversial proposed pumped storage project in Meaford has now garnered the concern of neighbouring townships.
Tiny Township Council unanimously passed a resolution calling for comprehensive independent studies of TC Energy’s project citing concern that the province has narrowly defined Meaford as the sole “host community,” despite the fact that the mega-project will impact all Georgian Bay municipalities.
Those opposed say the project threatens Georgian Bay’s water quality, fragile topography, and over 30 endangered species, in addition to contamination concerns.
