The availability of swim time at the Orillia Rec Centre just went down significantly.
A shortage of life guards for daytime swims during the week is the culprit.
Evening and weekends remain fully staffed, but the city recently lost three daytime lifeguards and one aquatic coordinator, representing about 128 hours of weekly lifeguard coverage.
The city needs five to six daytime lifeguards to operate at full capacity..and recruitment is ongoing.
