The City of Owen Sound is reminding property owners to consider alternate modes of payment for their upcoming tax payments.
The final 2025 property tax due date is Monday, September 29th.
Due to the postal strike, water bills were expected to be sent out on Friday, but due to the service disruption, the city is encouraging everyone to sign up for e-billing or Virtual City Hall to view their bills online.
You can also visit City Hall in person to request a printed copy or to make a payment.
The City of Owen Sound offers several convenient payment methods for ratepayers:
In person: Pay by cheque, cash or debit at City Hall during regular business hours.
Online/telephone banking: Most financial institutions list “City of Owen Sound” or “Owen Sound City” as a payee. Please ensure sure you select the appropriate bill payment category (e.g. “tax” or “water”) to ensure that your payment is applied to the correct account.
Credit card: Pay online through Virtual City Hall using the secure Paymentus system. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted. A 2.5% convenience fee applies and the City receives only the amount paid towards your roll.
At your bank or credit union: Payments can be made in-branch or at an ATM. Please ensure you have your account number with you.
Drop-box: Cheques may be dropped in the secure after-hours drop box located at the front door of City Hall; just include the detachable portion of your bill and clearly mark the envelope with “Property Tax” – you are advised not to put cash in the drop box.
