Some big names in curling will battle it out in Port Elgin next year in an unprecedented event and tickets are on sale this week.
Team Rachel Homan and Team Brad Jacobs will play against each other at the Plex in 2026.
Organizing Committee Member Dave Middleton says the curling pros will be in town all three days.
“No battle has happened in this country for any more than one game, but we’re doing three,” says Middleton.
Friday evening September 25th, 2026 will be doubles curling. Saturday evening September 26th, 2026 its Skins Curling. Then the final on Sunday afternoon September 26, 2026 is regular curling with a few twists thrown in for fun.
The event is sponsored by Bruce Power and presented Holiday Inn Express and Suites.
Organizers say the three-day event is actually two events in one.
The first event is “The Battle” between Team Rachel Homan and Team Brad Jacobs.
Fans will be able to purchase full event passes starting September 25th, 2025 for $129 plus applicable taxes and fees. They will be available online only at www.portelgincurlingclub.com/thebattle. Only full event tickets are on sale now. Single game tickets, if any are available, will be announced later.
The second event is a one-of-a-kind adult curling camp. Limited to 80 campers over the age of 19, curlers of all experience levels will have the opportunity for on ice and off ice instruction from some of the top instructors in the country, and of course members of both Team Homan and Team Jacobs.
Packages include the curling camp, passes to all Battle games, some meals, and accommodation at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites located across the road from the Plex. Camp registrations can also be made online starting September 25th, 2025 at www.portelgincurlingclub.com/thebattle.
The purpose is to assist multiple curling clubs in Grey Bruce with fundraising to ensure the continuation of the sport in the area. Any one week passes purchased that are credited to an area curling club will benefit that club to the tune of $25 per ticket. Plus, area curling clubs can sell sponsorship for the event which in turn will get that a portion of the overall profit of the event.
