Just in time for Labour Day weekend, Grey Bruce Public Health is lifting the swim advisory for Kelso Beach at Nawash Park.
The change comes after a new series of water samples show that bacteria levels have returned within the province’s guidelines for safe swimming.
The no swimming advisory was put in place earlier this month due to high levels of E. Coli bacteria.
Grey Bruce Public Health says that even though the water is deemed to be safe, it’s important that swimmers use their best judgement before taking a dip or allowing children or pets to swim in any body of water.
They advise not to swim in beach water within 48 hours of heavy rainfall, if the water is too cloudy for you to see your feet at waist-deep, or if there is a large number of birds or a lot of algae in the water.
Swimming in water with high bacteria levels can increase your risk of getting sick or getting an infection.
