A 47 year old pilot from Oro-Medonte has died after a plane crash in Georgian Bay.
Emergency responders were dispatched at 12:39 pm today after the crash was reported in the area of Pinery Point, Georgian Bay Township.
A 911 call from an area resident also sent the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Marine Unit to the scene.
Officers recovered the lone pilot and transported him to paramedics.
Sadly, police report that the pilot was pronounced dead, despite the efforts of emergency services.
The small ultralight aircraft sank at the crash scene and Transport Canada has been contacted to assist in the ongoing investigation.
