A pharmacist from Southampton is being recognized for her advocacy of her profession.
Kristen Watt, who owns Kristen’s Pharmacy, has been recognized for tirelessly working to address the issues impacting patient choice and access.
Watt is not only a business owner, but also an educator and a member of various boards.
She’s also known for speaking out about issues such as the regulation of nicotine patches, and the need for continued exemptions for the prescription of controlled substances.
As an educator, she coordinates hands-on experiences for pharmacy students, by giving them a chance to learn in a community-focused setting.
Watt has even travelled to Zambia to advocate the opening of a medical clinic.
She’s been given a Pharmacy Practice + Business Award – Raise Your Voice for her work.
The purpose of the award is to recognize Canadian pharmacists who provide exceptional patient care and demonstrate creativity and innovation.
