West Grey is seeing an uptick in building activity compared to 2023.
Council reviewed the building statistics for the fourth quarter of 2024 during its meeting on Feb. 4, which highlights the number of permits issued for residential, agriculture, commercial, institutional, and industrial builds.
By the end of 2024, the municipality issued 274 permits, compared to the 249 in 2023.
During the fourth quarter, 10 new residential units were added.
Residential permits made up most of the permits issued in 2024, with 35 new homes, and 30 multi-residential. There were also 23 permits issued for new agricultural buildings, four for institutional, and two for commercial.
Additionally, the municipality raked in nearly $649,000 in permit revenue in 2024.
Director of Development and Community Services Karl Schipprack says the number of permits issued during the fourth quarter are up 43 per cent, while project values are down 11 per cent, but permit revenue is up 11 per cent.
“Building activity for 2024 has also increased from 2023. The number of issued building permits is up 10 per cent, project values are up 96 per cent, and building permit revenue is up 174 per cent,” says Schipprack in a report.
