Team Canada, featuring former Owen Sound North Star Jillian Goldie, is on its way to the semifinals at the U20 World Women’s Field Lacrosse Championships, currently taking place in Hong Kong.
Canada, entering the tournament as the world’s second seed behind the United States, lived up to expectations with a dominant performance in the pool stage.
The team kicked off their campaign with a commanding 19-0 victory over Wales, followed by a 22-4 win against the Haudenosaunee team, a 22-2 triumph over Chinese Taipei, and a 22-0 shutout against Korea.
In the quarterfinals, Canada continued their impressive form, overpowering Italy with a 25-2 win.
Next, the Canadians will face the fourth-ranked team from Japan in the semifinals on Thursday. The other semifinal will see the United States take on Australia.
