Owen Sound Police say a cyclist was injured after colliding with a transport truck downtown yesterday.
It happened at the intersection of 10th Street East and 2nd Avenue East, just before 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
According to police, a transport truck was travelling eastbound on 10th Street East — and had a green light — when a northbound cyclist entered the intersection from 2nd Avenue East.
“Traffic was heavy at that time. Initial reports were that the cyclist became trapped underneath the transport, however this was determined not to be the case,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
Police say the cyclist, a 35-year-old woman, was taken to hospital in an ambulance for injuries described as non-life threatening.
Owen Sound Police continue to investigate the collision. No charges have been laid, but police say “the details of the cyclist’s actions are being confirmed.”
10th Street East was closed between 2nd and 3rd Avenues East for about 30 minutes Thursday afternoon due to the collision.
Owen Sound Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
