The Owen Sound Ron Hopper Real Estate U13 girls faced tough competition on Sunday in Oakville during Ontario’s Women’s Field Lacrosse league play. Despite their best effort, they were defeated in both games.
In the first matchup against Kawartha Lacrosse, the North Stars took an early lead of 2-1 before a rain delay halted play. When play resumed, they continued to battle but ultimately fell short, losing 3-2. Olyvia Wagner and Lyla Doyle each scored for Owen Sound.
The second game against the Burlington Blaze saw the North Stars trailing 6-3 at halftime. Although they fought hard, Burlington surged in the second half, resulting in a final score of 12-3. Lyla Doyle added two more goals to her tally, while Quinn Norton scored one.
With July 14th marking the end of the regular season, the U13 team has shown significant improvement and commendable commitment. Their dedication in practicing through torrential rain and extreme heat has been impressive. As they head to the Provincials from July 26th to 28th in Oshawa, the team is optimistic that their hard work will pay off, aiming for high standings in the tournament.
