Owen Sound Police say a senior is facing charges following a two vehicle collision which sent five people to the hospital.
Police say on July 7 around 8 p.m., officers, Grey County Paramedics and Fire responded to the intersection of 8th Avenue East and 20th Street East.
Police say a mid-sized SUV was travelling west on 20th Street with the right of way, when a second vehicle, a Volkswagen SUV, had stopped at the stop sign heading south.
The Volkswagen went into the intersection when the road was not clear or safe to do so, and resulted in a collision.
Police say while the airbags in both vehicles deployed, the two vehicles suffered significant damage.
The two women in the Volkswagen were sent to Brightshores Health System by ambulance, while the three people Kia, who also needed medical attention, were taken by ambulance as well.
Police say at the time of the incident it was not known how serious the injuries were, but it was later learned one of the women in the Volkswagen was airlifted to another hospital after having serious, but not life threatening injuries.
As a result, police say the driver of the Volkswagen, an 80-year-old woman from Etobicoke, was charged with careless driving and driving without a valid licence.
