Southern Georgian Bay OPP have released some Bear Wise safety tips as spring like conditions start to arrive in the North Simcoe area.
This is when bears awake from their winter hibernation period and end up wandering into urban and rural properties to get food.
Outdoor food sources such as bird feeders, insecure garbage containers and unkept BBQ’s are just a few examples of tempting treats for bears.
Police say removing potential attractants will help avoid any unwanted visitors.
