A Cargill man has won a $96,000 lottery prize.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) says Garry Seip of Cargill won the LOTTO MAX second prize in the April 2nd, 2024 draw.
Garry, who works in the automotive industry, says he started playing the lottery with his mother, and has been a regular lottery player for decades.
He told the OLG while picking up his prize in Toronto, “I have been replaying my tickets from the same store for 26 years.”
It wasn’t until the retailer validated his ticket, that Seip realized he had won big. “I went into the store to replay my tickets when the machine shutdown. I grabbed the printout of winning numbers and thought I had won $5,800. The retailer noticed I had also matched the bonus number and she told me I won $96,0000!”
Seip says he had always hoped for a big win. “It was incredible! My heart was pounding, my legs were vibrating, and my hands were shaking. It was pretty awesome to experience this.”
He says he plans to pay some bills, save for retirement and set aside some of his winnings to make upgrades to his classic car.
The winning ticket was purchased at Cargill Variety on Main Street in Cargill.
