Joey Stimac was the overtime hero as the Barons rallied from three goals down to defeat the Clarington Eagles 5-4 in Game 3 of the Provincial Junior Hockey League Schmalz Cup semifinal Tuesday evening at the P&H Centre.
Hanover now leads the series 2-1.
Alex McGillivray had a pair of goals for the Barons. Drayton Howell and Patrik Brown also scored.
While Cole Williamson, Kyle Shepherd, Kyle Smith and Trevor Urquhart found the net for the Eagles, which led 4-1 after the first period.
The Barons cut the lead to 4-2 in the second, before scoring twice in the third to send the game to overtime.
Derek Hartley made 33 saves in the win. Oliver Webster stopped 32 taking the loss. Shots finished 37-37.
Hanover went 4 for 11 on the power play; Clarington finished 1 for 8.
Game 4 goes Thursday at 7:25 p.m. in Clarington.
The series shifts back to Hanover for Game 5 at the P&H Centre at 8 p.m. Friday evening.
