Hanover residents briefly lost power today due to a transformer fire.
Fire Chief Jeff Dentinger says it drew a full response from the fire department.
Firefighters arrived to find the large ten foot tall ground unit transformer ablaze across the street from the P and H Mill property.
Dentinger says about 20 firefighters responded in four trucks. It took about an hour to deal with the fire.
“You just never know what’s going to happen, so we wanted to make sure that we have enough personnel for the extinguishment, but also the work that comes afterwards like decontamination and all the other activities,” says Dentinger.
The fire chief says a cause and damage estimate hadn’t been immediately determined but that he’d be working with Westario Power to determine what sparked the blaze.
