Owen Sound Police say a man is facing several charges following two robberies in the city.
Police say on March 17 around 5:30 p.m., a man entered a pharmacy in Owen Sound. Once inside, he disguised himself by covering the lower part of his face and attended the pharmacy area. He brandished a utility knife towards staff and fled the scene with a quantity of cash.
Uniformed officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
Police say the investigation continued with members of the Criminal Investigations Branch, the Community Oriented Response and Enforcement Unit and the Uniform Branch.
Later on March 22 just after 9 a.m., Police say officers responded to an armed robbery in progress at a different pharmacy in Owen Sound.
A man of no fixed address had disguised himself and brandished a knife, threatening staff at the business. Police say the man stole a quantity of cash and fentanyl patches.
The man fled on foot and was arrested a short distance away by officers.
Police say an investigation revealed the man was responsible for the March 17 incident as well.
As a result, police say the man was charged with two counts of robbery with a weapon, two counts of disguise with intent, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Police say the man was remanded into custody and has a court date on Monday.
