West Grey is working to prepare the Neustadt Industrial Park lands for sale.
Council approved declaring the lands surplus to make them available for sale as well as conduct a survey of the lands during a meeting on March 19.
This comes after the municipality has been seeing recent interest in purchasing the industrial park by the community, specifically the three acres across from 373 John Street.
Clerk and Director of Legislative Services Jamie Eckenswiller says, “there has not been a direct request from one individual to purchase the lands. West Grey does have the lands available for use in Neustadt’s Industrial Park, however, we are proactively looking at disposing of these lands to facilitate development.”
He says there have been general inquiries on if there is land for sale.
“The subject lands have been appraised and are valued at approximately $150,000 per acre. To facilitate development on these lands, the roadway in front on and adjacent to the subject lands must be assumed into the West Grey road system,” says Eckenswiller.
He says the road which will become part of the industrial lands belongs to the municipality, but will need to be registered as a legal road way.
To get the property ready to sell, council also approved survey work, which is expected to take three to five months to complete, costing up to $15,000.
