West Grey will be looking at leasing a piece of land in Durham for a new cell tower this week.
Council will consider leasing the land at 451 Saddler Street, east of the water treatment plant, to Shared Tower Inc. to build a 65 meter tower.
A report from Director of Infrastructure and Development Karl Schipprack says staff have reviewed the proposed location and have confirmed it will not interfere with the existing infrastructure or any future expansions.
The proposed lease will be for 10 years, with a 10 year expansion possible if both West Grey and Shared Tower agree.
The company will pay the municipality $700 a month for the first 10 years, and if the agreement gets an extension, the payment will go up to $840 a month.
Council will consider this lease agreement during its meeting on March 5 at 9 a.m.
