Bruce County Public Library is getting ready for March Break with beach-themed activities running at all 17 branches.
The “Just Beach” theme was chosen for those who aren’t able to get away for a sunny holiday getaway and can have fun at home instead.
“For those of us who aren’t able to get away to a real beach, we’re going to bring the beach to you at the library,” says Nancy Kuhl, the Program Coordinator for Bruce County Public Library.
The Library will also be welcoming magician Scott Dietrich to Teeswater Town Hall on Thursday, March 14th.
On Friday, March 15th, the Kincardine Branch will be welcoming The Little Mermaid for two meet-and-greet events. Those in attendance are encouraged to dress up like a mermaid or a princess.
The library also has ongoing challenges for readers of all ages to track their reading for a chance to win a prize.
“We use a platform called BeanStack, where you can enter the books you’re reading and keep track of what you’re reading over the winter,” says Kuhl. “That goes until March 31st. And we have prizes for different goals met in that challenge as well.”
She says that they also have crafting events and tools for adults as well, where you can have access to a 3D printer and a Cricut machine.
“With the adult [programs], we do have Cricuts and 3D printers available at some of our branches, so you can pop in and learn how to use [them] if you want to scratch that crafting itch.”
Scientists in Schools will be hosting hands-on activities at the Teeswater, Mildmay, and Walkerton branches during the week.
The events and programs are free, but you’re encouraged to book your spot through library.brucecounty.on.ca
