The Hanover Fire Department’s annual report shows calls were up in 2023.
Fire Chief Jeff Dentinger says in a presentation to council Tuesday, firefighters responded to 214 emergency calls in 2023.
That’s 15 more calls than in 2022, and the highest in the history of the fire department. This included mutual aid emergency responses within Brockton and West Grey but Dentinger says the bulk of emergency calls were in Hanover.
It worked out to a total of over 2,300 on scene personnel hours.
There were a total of ten fire incidents. Six were structure fires and four were outdoor fires.
The highest percentage of emergency responses was for medical assistance.
Dentinger says the average response time was six minutes and 39 seconds within the Town of Hanover.
He says that’s 36 seconds faster than 2022, and 78 seconds faster than 2021.
