Bracebridge OPP is investigating a sudden death after a report of a snowmobiler located in Go Home River in Georgian Bay.
On February 11th at 10:30 a.m., police received a report from a witness about an individual in the water of Go Home River.
The individual was believed to be a snowmobiler that hadn’t been seen for 18 hours. Due to the unpredictable weather and ice conditions, the water was deemed hazardous with flowing water and the individual was not able to be reached from the shore.
Members of the Bracebridge Detachment along with the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Aviation, and Under Water Search and Rescue Unit (USRU) were dispatched to the location which was water access only.
Sadly, the 46-year-old snowmobiler was located deceased shortly after by the OPP Aviation and ERT.
