The Avon Maitland District School Board says they will be operating at a deficit in their 2023-2024 budget.
A revised budget was approved at the board’s latest meeting, with over $35 million in capital spending.
The AMDSB says the total operating deficit for the 2023-2024 year is expected to be over $1.9 million.
An enrollment increase of 0.4 per cent was project for the current academic year, with high school student enrollment taking the biggest jump.
Capital spending — which includes purchases of computer hardware, furniture, and construction projects — jumped by more than $13 million in the revised budget.
$2.4 million is being transferred from reserves to make the spending possible.
