What a wild game that was.
Deni Goure scored the overtime winner as the Owen Sound Attack rallied from 4-1 down, and then coughed up a late lead, en route to beating the Barrie Colts 7-6 in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Goure finished with two goals and two assists for the Attack (23-20-3-1), which won back-to-back home games for the first time since early October. Landen Hookey, Colby Barlow, Sam McCue, Braedyn Rogers and Ethan Burroughs also scored.
Riley Patterson had a pair for Barrie (18-24-2), while Bode Stewart, Tai York, Jack Brauti and Thomas Stewart added goals.
It was the Colts’ 12th straight road loss. They haven’t won an away game since Nov. 10, 2023.
The Attack rallied from 4-1 down in the second period, scoring five unanswered to take a 6-4 lead with 10:40 to go in the third.
But the Colts managed to score two goals 52 seconds apart with their net empty late in the third, forcing overtime.
Goure found the winner at 3:38, causing an eruption of jubilation from the 2,445 fans at the Bayshore.
Carter George made 30 saves in the win, while Sam Hillebrandt stopped 51 taking the loss. The Attack outshot the Colts 58-36 while going 0 for 3 on the power play; Barrie finished 0 for 2.
Saturday, the Attack continue a five-game home stand with a Midwest Division tilt against the London Knights (32-11-0-3). Owen Sound is 2-0-1 over the first three games of this stint at the Bayshore.
