Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious collision that occurred on Highway 26 in the Township of Clearview.
On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers and other emergency services responded to a serious three-vehicle collision on Highway 26, between Rainbow Valley Road and Strongville Road at the boarder of Springwater and Clearview Townships.
Officers arrived on scene and discovered that one of the vehicles involved was on fire and engulfed in flames. Officers attempted to extinguish the fire surrounding the driver who was trapped inside. Clearview Fire Department arrived on scene, extinguished the fire and was able to extract the driver from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a Toronto trauma hospital in life-threatening condition.
The two other involved drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene and were not transported to hospital.
Collision Reconstructionists from the OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation. The road was closed for several hours for the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
