There’s one day left to sign up for Owen Sound’s citizen’s police academy.
The service is inviting those who are interested to take part in a free, seven-week evening academy to apply before Tuesday, January 9th.
City police say each Wednesday night will involve experts presenting on topics including complex criminal investigations, forensic identification techniques, police communications and dispatch, technical surveillance and digital evidence, and the courts and criminal justice system.
The citizen’s police academy is open to anyone with an interest in learning more about community policing and the legal system.
It’s set to begin January 17th and run for seven consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the police station at 922 2nd Avenue West in Owen Sound.
The academy size is limited to 20 people.
You can apply online at owensoundpolice.com/citizens-police-academy.
Police say you must be 18 years of age or older, and due to the nature of the course curriculum, a security check will be conducted for applicants. They say preference will be given to those who live or work in Owen Sound.
