Impaired driving charges in Huron County increased more than fourfold during the OPP’s Festive RIDE Campaign.
The campaign saw police checkpoints set up throughout communities in Ontario between November 16, 2023 and January 1, 2024.
Huron County’s 2022 campaign saw six impaired driving charges laid.
In 2023, that figured jumped to 26.
Across Ontario, the Festive RIDE campaign results are as such, with 2022 results in parentheses:
- Impaired Driving charges: 353 (278)
- Warn-Range suspensions: 55 (35)
- RIDE events: 2446 (1804)
- Number of vehicles that drove through a RIDE event: 13,197.
